We’re back open!
Today’s the day – Sea Change South Shields has reopened with a fresh new look, a refreshed menu, and free barista coffee all day today (Friday 4 July) to celebrate! We’re serving our main menu until 4pm, and there’s 10% off all food all weekend (Friday-Sunday) as a thank you for your amazing support.
We couldn’t have done this without our amazing community. A huge shoutout to the Handy Couple, who worked day and night this week to give Sea Change its fresh new style – they were here decorating for our first opening in 2019, and now they’ve come back in 2025 for round two.
A big thank you as well to David from Balls Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Service, who kindly cleaned our rug and sofa for free – they’ve never looked better, and we can’t recommend him enough. And of course, thank you to everyone who popped in during the closure to say hello, especially new faces asking about what we do – it really does mean the world!
If you read our last news post, you’ll know that behind the scenes, it’s been a tough year: sales have sadly been down, and with government cuts and delays to disability support, running a social-enterprise café has become even more challenging. We’re proud of the difference we make – but the truth is, we can’t do this alone.
Every purchase at Sea Change keeps our trainees in jobs, supports local suppliers, and helps keep our community venue alive. More than that, it allows us to train more neurodiverse adults through our employability programme, helping build brighter futures with confidence and real work skills.
